The pot clips are designed to “catch” the probe rather than to let it slide through loosely. This feature allows you to adjust how far the probe’s tip will go into the container to which you’re attaching the pot clip.
Please take a look at this short video that describes how to pinch the clip and allow the probe to fit in the holes properly.
